Basseiarges mellishae sp.

Jorf, Bou Tchrafine Formation, Morocco

Middle Devonian - Eifelian Stage

This species is named after M. Claire Mellish, curator of Fossil Arthropods and Graptolites of the British Museum of Natural History of London as acknowledgement by her continuous help.

You can read the publication about this species here:

This trilobite is a one-of-a-kind, extremely rare specimen, prepared by none other than 30+ years Master Paleontological Preparator Hammi only using microscopic magnification. There is always the "find" break, which is how the trilobites are found. Later the trilobite is glued back together. There is no augmentation, restoration, or any composite material on this trilobite. Certificate of Authenticity included.

Trilobite: any member of a group of extinct fossil arthropods easily recognized by their distinctive three-lobed, three-segmented form. Trilobites, exclusively marine animals, first appeared at the beginning of the Cambrian Period, about 542 million years ago, when they dominated the seas.
