These Brazilian Agates are formed within decomposed volcanic ash and basalt from the late Permian age 248-275 million years ago and found in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. These agates are typically discovered in random fields in the area after plowing. Agates can be very colorful, sometimes exhibiting iris rainbow patterns with beautiful translucency.
