Ajdabiya 001 is classified as a feldspathic melt breccia, formed from lunar highland materials fused together by ancient impact events. Multiple pieces of this meteorite were found, totaling 28.8 kg. This meteorite characterized by closely packed and unusually large, angular, light-gray lithic clasts within a sparse dark, fine-grained matrix. The clasts consist of spinel troctolite and quench-textured basaltic rocks, with minerals such as anorthite, olivine, low-calcium pyroxene, exsolved pigeonite, augite, ilmenite, chromite, iron-chromium-bearing spinel, kamacite, and troilite.
