Halisaurus was a smaller type species of mosasaur ranging between 9.8 to 13.1 feet in length. Halisaurus consumed a diet of mostly fish and squid. Halisaurus specimens have been found in many countries around the globe in multiple temporal ranges spanning the Campanian and Maastrichtian of the Cretaceous from Peru to North America, and across to Africa and Northern Europe.

The Ouled Abdoun Basin (or Khouribga Basin), in the central area of Morocco, is a wide sedimentary basin represented as a tremendous filling of phosphate sediments. Apart from mining raw materials to be extracted, it has a sequence of very essential paleontological sites in which remarkable assemblages from massive and small marine vertebrates are present. The basin has such a wide continuity in its stratigraphic record that both the Upper Cretaceous as well as the two first epochs of the Paleogene (Paleocene and Eocene) can be studied.

Also included in the spectacular specimen, with expert preparation, are multiple fish vertebra and several other small identifiable features. Absolutely no restoration, with exceptions of small amounts of adhesives.
