Lepidotes (previously known as Lepidotus) is an extinct genus of ray-finned fish that inhabited warm Jurassic seas teeming with life, such as ammonites, ichthyosaurs, crinoids, and many fish species. Lepidotes body was covered in thick, enameled scales and it had a bony-armored head. Lepidotes belongs to the clade Ginglymodi, whose only living representatives are gars (Lepisosteidae).
