NWA 13974 is classified as a feldspathic melt breccia, formed from lunar highland materials fused together by ancient impact events. Multiple pieces of this meteorite were found ranging in size from 1 to 800 grams, with a total mass of 7.94 kg. It has a complex breccia composition containing rounded to irregular-shaped lithic and anhedral mineral clasts, surrounded by a melt matrix. The lithic clasts consist of anorthosite, norite, troctolite, brecciated and shock melted clasts, while the mineral clasts are mostly anorthite with some zoned olivine.
