Pink amethyst is created from quartz geodes formed within volcanic rocks or sedimentary deposits. The pink color comes from iron impurities interacting with natural radiation during crystal growth. Pink Amethyst is only found in three areas, Patagonia, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. This particular specimen was discovered in Uruguay. Uruguay has a vast geology of volcanic activity and sedimentary formations which provide the perfect environment for the formation of quartz geodes.

Pink amethyst is a variety of quartz, a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen atoms arranged in a crystalline lattice structure. Pink amethyst is set apart due to the presence of iron impurities within this lattice that interact with natural radiation during the crystal’s growth to create its distinctive pink hues.
